Like it or not, the majority of the abbreviated public judges your stature similarly. You, my lady are noticed, accompanied constantly with presumptions for strength of character. One of the worst responses to this attention is to shrug under your heighty responsibility. Stooping and slumping will not reduce your height, it will only reduce your presence and credibility.
Embrace your elongated elegance, and flaunt what the rest of us try to create by illusion. Begin with the realization that enviable height begins and ends with legs: long, strong pedials. The remainder of your length simply needs to be brought into proportion. While long torsos, arms, and necks all contribute to the master goal of reaching the pent-house shelf, without purposeful management, they can quickly allude to the gangly image of a newborn giraffe.
Below are suggestions on ways to strategically save and splurge your height:
Wear accessories in proportion to your stature. This opera length strand celebrates your luxurious length. Your strong presence also allows for exploration into wide collars, large buttons, and other oversized details, all which lie peacefully astride your statuesque frame.
Extended torsos and arms require visual pruning. The jacket's loosely fitted half sleeve and cropped length ensures that arm and torso lines are not exaggerated. Nothing highlights altitude like structural sisters: tight and uninterrupted. Clothing should skim rather than seal your figure.
(The cropped length works on this ensemble because the ruffle of the dress will peak out below it. However when no second longer layer is available/appropriate, select a jacket ending mid-thigh, which will better truncate a long torso.)
This brightly hued frock flaunts not only the sheer volume of inches in your figure, but also the intricate taper of each curve along the dissension. At 43.5 inches it should be hitting the knees of even the leggiest specimen.
The amplitude of inches contained in your lower half allows you to frivolously spend a few on shoe adornments which would bankrupt short, inch thrifty legs. Experiment with all kinds of adornments from cuffs to straps to highlight your shapely ankles.
Another statement accessory, this set showcases your majestic neck. (If, however, you feel like your neck is a bit too uppity, try matching it up with a high neckline, anywhere from a boat neck to a turtle-neck will provide proper proportions.)
There's a basis for the stereotypical tall model. Long figures allow fabrics to drape without disturbance. Knits such as this allow you to showcase your innate talents. Just be careful that you are applying a drape not a tent. Aim for tall, not big.
Vertical lines elongate visual impressions. These horizontal lines re-align the eye to a more proportional torso and upper limbs. When selecting tops, be sure full sleeves reach a quarter inch below your wrists to avoid looking like you've outgrown your vesture.
36 inches of precisely cut denim to glorify your leggy legs. If your foundational limbs are particularly slender in addition to tall, swerve away from stilt by opting for cuffs and/or a wider leg flare.
Tall girls are not condemned to "big feet" flats. Strap on your heels, throw your shoulders back, and stride forward with confidence.

ReplyDeletethanks for the sites and giving tall a glorious feel.=) you are great!
ReplyDeletethanks for the insight!
ReplyDeletegap online has tall tops and bottoms.
Great post! I have a further question, though. What about those of us poor girls who though tall (5'9") are stuck with a disproportionately short waist--13 inches from base of neck to natural waist? Needless to say, I never ever tuck anything in because if I did, it would look like a head walking on a pair of stilts. Do you have any suggestions for people like us?
ReplyDeleteI have found that Lucky Brand is the best bet for me, when trying to find denim jeans that would be long enough for my insanely long legs.
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same problem as Lover of Beauty - my short waist looks extra silly when I tuck things in - but I am curvy, so I need some definition in the waist area, even if it is oddly high on my torso! Eeek!
ReplyDeleteu stopped by my blog once a long time ago and here i am again coming full circle through cjane's blog. i love it!
ReplyDeleteWords of wisdom, indeed.
ReplyDeleteLover of Beauty: If you want to stretch a short torso, try wearing an extended tunic or dress over jeans. It will take the idea of an untucked top and stretch it even further.

ReplyDeleteTo make sure you don't lose your waist definition in the above suggestion, be sure the tunic or dress has a well constructed waistline, or just add a waist belt.
Thank you for your advice!
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips for us tall women! Even though I'm just 5'9" I shied away from heels for a long time for fear of being the Golly Green Giant. But I finally got over that and embraced my love for all shoe heights once again. It probably also helps that my boyfriend is 6'4" so I don't ever have to worry about being taller than him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice to Lover of Beauty...I'm right there with her!
ReplyDeleteAnother problem I have is that when I will find jeans long enough for heels (my inseam is 33"), they become too short after washing and drying them. Should jeans not be dried?
I'm 6'1"
