Disciples of Fashion, meet Dear Golden!
Name: Lauren
Age: 30s
City of Residence: Ypsilanti, Michigan
Pithy Title for your hybrid of Signature Style: 1930s Landgirl with a Neutral Habit and a Penchant for 1970s Ecclectism
Brief Narrative on your Personal Brand of Sartorial Fashion: Fashion is for everyday, there's no excuse for sweatpants at the post office.
How old were you when you figured out your sense of style? 4th grade, and curiously a lot of things I liked then, I like now...take the plaid wool skirt in this post, I loved those in 4th grade and am still wearing them today!
Who is your style icon? I don't really have one, my fickle mind flits about finding some new fashionable person to love every season, but all my icons are people of the past. I can't find much I love about celebrities today.
What's your best piece of fashion advice for women? Don't be afraid to wear something you think you can't, and I mean, if you love vintage hats, don't bother asking, "where would I wear them?". Who cares! Where them everywhere, anywhere, just wear them. And abandoned the phrase, "Oh I don't think I can pull that off", when it comes to something out of the realm of what you normally wear - just try it out!
Where do you shop when you want a bargain? always vintage, you get the best quality for your money, that's for sure. i really don't like buying things new at all, i don't see much need for it.
Where are your top 5 places to shop overall?
Etsy
Silver Spoon Antiques (by my house)
Lost & Found Vintage (near me)
Anthropologie
Value World & The Salvation Army
What body issue do you dress around, and how?
Sadly enough, my hair! It's really fine and gets flat easily and just drives me batty, I use hot rollers often, but usually default to a perky messy bun at the top of my head.
