Creative Ensembles: Yin & Yang

How to apply the Taoist philosophy to fashion and harvest unexpected styling bliss.

Yin
Yang

Yin
Yang
Ingenue, feminine influences
Dramatic, masculine influences
Lighter, closer value contrasts.  Softly grayed intensities and pastels
Darker, strong value contrasts.  Bright, intensified.
Pliable, smooth, fine, lightweight. Yields to external forces.
Firm, rich, rough, heavy.  Holds its own shape.
Many details, delicate, ornate.
Few details, strong, architectural
Curved, rounded, broken or interrupted lines
Straight, angular, restrained curves, long unbroken lines

While yin is delicately sweet and yang is sharply spicy, together they are ambrosial.

Mens jackets-with lady collars, ruffled blouses with leather cummerbunds, tissue underpinnings and industrial cuffs.  Neither syrupy nor severe.  Perfect parity.

  1. Reachel,
I cannot figure out the ratio of my measurements to tell me if I'm proud to be a pear or have mystical curves. Here are my numbers:
34 inch bust (without my padded bra to make up the difference)! 29 in waist 39 inch hips.
Thank you for your help :)

  2. Lady Penfold,

Your numbers indicate you are a lower figure. If the pear feature describes your experience, you should have a match. Good luck on your fashion adventure.

  3. One more question: I am 5'2" and 124# All my features are compact not long, I have very broad shoulders (15" across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam), I wear a bra that makes my chest 35" Does shoulder width balance a pear to make me a curve or is it strictly the bust? I am ready to embrace whatever I am I just don't know (I should have included this in the first query). A very many thanks. I am wanting to do a look book just wondering whether to do the closet analysis!

  4. The breadth of your shoulders would definitely affect your body type. If the breadth of your shoulders is within 2 inches of the breadth of your hips, I would categorize you as an hourglass as opposed to a pear.

And if you want to add a look book on to a closet analysis, I could offer you both for a discounted $175.
