Essential Wardrobe: Day Dress

Relaxed elegance in a one piece ensemble. Day dresses like flea markets and picnics. After running errands, you can find them stopping for afternoon gelato.

Upper Figure Options
Let your anterior curves speak without distraction. Then draw the eye down to posterior curves with a bright hue or playful embellishment.

Middle Figure Options: Fit the shoulders and avoid a clingy waist. A well fitted bust will keep shift dresses sharp but never boxy.

Lower Figure Options: Scoop necklines draw attention back to your smile while a-line and full skirts give your lower body the space it needs.

Hourglass Options: Dresses are your body shape's calling. With a matching top and bottom size all you need to search for is a fitted waist.

Linear Options: Soft lines and romantic ruffles show off your lines while adding some new curves.

  2. I love that Geometric Dress for middle figures. I so worry about in being age appropriate.

  3. All those dresses were lovely, but none seemed to go even all the way to the knee. Dresses that are flattering and long enough to keep my unmentionables unmentioned seem terribly difficult to find. Do you have any secret places to look?

  7. Angie- how tall are you? Most of those dresses would hit me at the knee, but if you are over 5 ft 5 inches, I can understand your problem. Many different retailers carry tall (in addition to petite) sizes online.

  9. Thanks for the ideas and comments. I will look at Shabby Apple again.

I am only 5'4", but a bit overly buxom, which makes many dresses hang shorter but also, a dress that seems long enough when I stand all pretty in the dressing room becomes instantly too short when I have to bend or crouch to keep my little ones in the dressing room or when I sit down.

I have trouble getting the proportions right. That is one of the reasons why I am so anxiously mailbox stalking for the arrival of my previously ordered look book.
