Freshy Spring Trend: Pleated Carrot Pants

Mommy pants gone chic. Carrot pants have a high rise, a pleated front, fit generously through the thigh and hip, then taper progressively in. They can be full length or cropped, but they must extend past the calf to classify for the category. For best results, pair them with a fitted blouse or tuck in a slim fit top. Walk your own personal catwalk in stiletto heels.

Mind you, every trend is not for every body. Stick with what flatters your figure above what draws accolades on the runway. Your clothes serve you, not the other way around. But do tell us what your favorite Spring 09 fashion trend is in the comments below.

  1. I am loving all the bright and feminine florals this Spring! Gotta get me some more of those!

  2. How funny! I have the second outfit on my wish list. I love this style of pant, and that cardigan is total eye candy.

  3. I am thinking this is not a good look for my pear shaped self. :)

  4. It would be so helpful if you could mention which body types would benefit from a certain look and which ones should shy away from it. I'm thinking these pants would be a hard item for many gals to pull off. Don't they add poundage if you aren't very trim?

  5. Cute outfit. I too, wondering about the pant and what type of body it's best (not on!)....
Also, do you own all these cute things, or just model them for our inspiration??? Just wondering. Thanks.

  6. Here's a quick rundown matching trends with body types.

Floral: This one (Seamed blouse, wide leg trousers, wrap cardigan) is especially good for a lower figure, but it would flatter virtually every body type. However, if you're a middle figure - loose the belt.

Boyfriend Jeans: This one could work quite well for a middle figure. The cropped length and short sleeves showcase slender limbs. The loosely cut waistband combined with a floaty banded top wouldn't hurt either.

Seductive Structure: The dark top and bright skirt presents good potential for an upper figure. The clean clasping of curves would also present an opportunity to showcase an hourglass figure.

Carrot Pants: This style does great things for a linear figure. The pleating and wide hips create virtual curves below. While the tie at the blouse's bust and rows of lace create a matching volume above. A slim hourglass could also keep the ensemble looking balanced.

  7. Nancy-
Although I would love to own all the clothes, I model them for inspiration only at this time. Right now I am abstaining from shopping for Lent. But come April 9th, you can bet I'm going Easter Frock shopping.

  8. You are so cute, Reachel. I've been loving all your spring looks. I might have to head over to anthropologie soon, cause i just did my closet clean out and it is a little sad and empty looking now.
