Living Vicariously: White Christmas

The Christmas forecast in Arizona: 70 degrees Fahrenheit. A Christmas baby should be cuddled up against swirling sugar colored drifts in cable knit cashmere.  But as the sun pours in on Baby Bagley's newborn life, summer muslin would make a more appropriate swaddle cloth.

Alas, I will be living through my friends in frosted lands north, who can legitimately layer dainty diapers with the following ensemble.

If I could I'd scrape your weathered windshields and warm up your carseat carrying cars.

In the meantime, I've selected a tiny tote from a wide variety of luggage sets.  And my baby luggage is packed.
An estimated 10 days to go.
What dreamies are in included in your ideal Christmas?  And what shouldn't I forget to include in my diaper bag?

  4. if you can, bring your own pillow. it makes all the difference when you are snuggling your new baby in something that smells like your home. that is my 2 cents.

  6. Oh what lovely little outfits. My baby will be born in March, and in Ohio there is a good chance she could wear something like that :/

Here's my must have(!) hospital bag list (after 4 babies and years of being a doula)

Lip balm! Warm socks/slippers! A pen! Camera/phone chargers! A boppy cushion if you plan to breastfeed! Your favourite granola/energy bars for when food is not immediately forthcoming! Throat lozenges or hard candy. I remember my throat being sooo sore and dry after my first was born (from all the lamaze breathing) and for some strange reason the nurse was not allowed to give me a throat lozenge.

I also love love love rice bags that can be heated up in the microwave to ease sore muscles-I use them in labour and after, and foam rollers/massagers/tennis balls etc to apply counter-pressure during labour.

Also: Little tiny baby nail clippers, the nails are often really long and you don't want him to slice up his face. (I hereby confess that I always save those first little clippings on a piece of tape for their baby books-those little half moons are soo tiny and sweet. I know this is weird and creepy to many people, rest assured I do not keep the umblical cord stump or even the placenta.;)

Happy birthing! A Christmas baby-what a perfect, and well deserved gift. Btw: you look incredible, if I was not so in awe I would be jealous :)

  7. Reachel!

Thank you for this post - I just had a boy last Friday. You may remember me, I purchased a look book earlier this year and we have exchanged maternity links. Best of luck to you.

  8. I agree with the warm compress and massaging tools. A nursing nightgown, a soft washcloth for wiping your brow. If you're room has a dvd player I suggest movies to watch to kill time or magazines for after baby arrives. Good luck!

    That outfit is adorable!

  9. As I walked my little guy to the school bus this am we were surrounded by fog. I took it for what it was~ our winter wonderland. He had never experienced fog and was delighted.

Our family is not decorating this year (I wrote about it today) yet we continue to receive true blessings of the season.

    Be merry and bright.

  10. I agree with the lip balm! And a nippy. If you are breastfeeding, breast pads, nursing bra and lanolin! What a life savor! Good luck and congrats!!

  11. For the hospital you MUST bring your own pads - as in menstrual pads. The ones the hospital gives you to use are narrow, not nearly sticky enough, and generally useless! Go buy a couple big packs of Always heavy-duty overnight pads and you'll be MUCH MUCH more comfortable after giving birth. I wish someone had told me that with my first.
Ditto bringing your Boppy to the hospital. It's the most useful "tool" I ever bought.
